TWO DART STEP BY STEP SERIES
SHOULDER TIP & WAIST DART [STWD - pg. 90]
Open the WAIST & SIDE DART.PDS SLOPER TEMPLATE FILE- DOWNLOAD HERE
 
 

  • Go to TOOLBOX>DARTS & PLEATS and select the DART TOOL.
  • Hold down the ALT key and select the side seam dart tip.
  • Select the rotational center on dart line - bust point [type1.25 in submenu].
  • Select shoulder tip for new dart opening point as the new location to move dart.
  • Select point [A] for rotation - SS dart leg nearest to armhole [A]
  • Rotate and close SS dart legs.
  • 100% of SS dart is now shifted over to the shoulder tip dart opening location.
  • You should have two darts [waist and shoulder tip] equally distributed.
  • Select closed SS dart
  • Press DELETE key to delete SS dart.
  • You need to move the new shoulder tip dart tip to be located 1 inch away from the bust point - to do this you need to first measure the current distance.
  • Go to TOOLBOX>DARTS & PLEATS and select the DART TOOL.
  • DO NOT HOLD DOWN the ALT key this time and select the existing dart tip - drag it to the BUST POINT to check the distance in the SHIFT DART pop up submenu and determine how much you need to move the point closer or farther away. [NOTE: example above the distance was 2.1- it was modified in image below below to 1.1]
  • In the SHIFT DART submenu type in a number to add or minus the current distance to adjust the final distance to 1 inch from the dart tip to the BUST POINT.
  • Check to see the amount you moved the mid shoulder tip dart tip is correct [you may need to undo and redo this step if it is incorrect.
  • Go to TOOLBOX>GENERAL>MEASURE or just press CTRL-D and check the distance to make sure the dart tip is 1 inch away from the bust point.
  • CTRL-HOME to reset piece in window.
Right mouse click on piece - under the attributes rename the SHOULDER TIP & WAIST DART, the piece DESCRIPTION - STWD.
  • Go to TOOLBOX>UPDATE PIECES> SAVE ACTIVE AS NEW>
    Go to FILE > SAVE to save your work
